Lesson 1.6 – The Butterfly
Do you know?
• A butterfly starts its life as an egg. A caterpillar changes into a butterfly. This change is called metamorphosis.
• Butterflies have four colourful wings. Butterflies drink nectar from flowers. Butterflies help flowers by spreading pollen grains.
1. Listen and sing.

2. Find and write meanings of following words.

4. Describe the picture that you see, using the words from the poem. (Show a picture of a butterfly.)
Ans: I see a beautiful butterfly with purple and gold wings. It is fluttering in the bright sunshine. It looks graceful and flies lightly over the flowers. The garden is pleasant and colourful.

Ans: We should not harm butterflies or animals because they are living creatures. We should love, protect and care for them.

Ans: The poem teaches us to love nature, enjoy its beauty and let birds and animals live freely.
8. Write 6-7 lines on: “If I were a butterfly…” OR “If I were a bird”.
Ans: If I were a butterfly, I would fly from flower to flower. I would have colourful wings. I would enjoy the fresh air and bright sunshine. I would visit beautiful gardens every day. I would spread happiness wherever I go. I would never harm anyone and would love nature.
