Things to do

1. With the help of a calendar –

(a) Find out how many Fridays there are in this year.

Ans: 52 Fridays.

 

(b) How many of these Fridays you will spend in school.

Ans: Around 30 Fridays.

2. Mention the things that make – 

(a) a class untidy 

Ans: scattered papers, cluttered desks, trash, disarrayed chairs, untidy boards, dirty floors, etc.

 

(b) a person untidy.

Ans: messy hair, wrinkled clothes, stains on clothing, dirty nails, strong body odour, wearing mismatched clothes, visible dirt on skin or hands, unbrushed teeth, etc.

3. Write any five things you do to tidy up your house.

Ans: 

(1) Pick up toys and put them away.

(2) Fold and organize clothes.

(3) Clear the table after meals.

(4) Put shoes away neatly.

(5) Make the bed in the morning.

4. How much time do you need to get ready for school? Write in the following table:

Ans: Seems is always cleaning because she likes her home to be spick and span

 

(iii) as clean as a whistle.

Ans: The puppy licked its fur until it was as clean as a whistle.

6. When do we say the following? Describe one situation when you will say –

(i) That’s not fair!

Ans: If two friends are playing a game and one of them changes the rules midway to favour himself, the other friend might say, “That’s not fair!”.

 

(ii) That’s much better!

Ans: Imagine if Rakesh is using an old and slow computer, and then he upgraded to a new, faster one. After experiencing the improved performance, he would say, “That’s much better!”

7. Write where you will put the following: Mention two other things that are kept in each of these places.

(i) pencil

Ans: I will put this in my pencil case.

Sharpener and eraser are kept in the pencil case.

 

(ii) cup

Ans: I will put this in my saucer.

Biscuits and cake are kept in a saucer.

 

(iii) banana peel

Ans: I will put this in a compost bin.

Waste food and scrapped paper are out in a compost bin.

 

(iv) doll

Ans: I will put this in a toy box.

Stuffed animal and other toys.

8. List five of your favourite stories.
