A. What can be done?

Dinner is ready and mother has asked Sakina to call Grandpa. But, Grandpa cannot hear at all. How will Sakina tell him to come?

Ans: As Grandpa cannot hear, Sakina will go near him and touch him. She will elaborate for Grandpa through her body language and signs.

B. Think and tell.

(1) Yesterday’s yoghurt is spoilt. It cannot be eaten. How would you know that?

Ans: We would know that yoghurt is spoiled by its change in color, change in taste, and dirty smell. So, we could examine the yoghurt through our sense organs, like our eyes, tongue and nose. 

 

(2) Some ingredients we use in the kitchen are named below. What are their colours?

a. Turmeric 

Ans: Yellow

D. Observe and write.

When playing cricket, the ball is to be hit with the bat. Which parts of your body do you use to do so? How do you co-ordinate your movements? 

Ans: While playing cricket, body coordination plays an important role. While hitting the ball, we have to carefully see the ball with our eyes and be ready with the bat to hit at the right distance, adjusting our position with our legs and hitting with power. While hitting all the body parts, like the hands, shoulders, chest, and leg position, play an important role.

E. Answer in brief.

(1) How are the two hands used while roasting peanuts?

Ans: While roasting peanuts, our left hand is used to hold the pan, and our right hand is used to hold the ladle to stir the peanuts in the pan. On the way, peanuts are roasted using our two hands.

 

(2) What is meant by ‘sensory organs’?

Ans: Organs that help us understand our surroundings by hearing, tasting, smelling, seeing, and touching are called sensory organs. Our sensory organs are our ears, tongue, nose, eyes, and skin.

 

(3) What help do we get from our sensory organs?

Ans: Sensory organs tell us about our surroundings, like ears that help us to hear, tongues that help us to taste, noses that help us to smell, eyes that help us to see, and skin that helps us to feel the touch.

 

(4) Why is co-ordination necessary?

Ans: Coordination is necessary for every task we do by making various movements in our body. We need coordination to complete every task without any mistakes or muddles.
