In the first picture, a man is carrying a heavy load on his back. Thus, he is doing physical labour, so his diet should be higher.
In the second picture, a man is working in his shop. Thus, he is doing sedentary work, so his diet should be lower.
In the third picture, we see that some schoolgirls are playing basketball. Thus, they need energy to do any activity, and their diet should be more varied.
F. Think and tell.
(a) A three-year old feels full on eating half a bhakari. Would half a bhakari be enough for his mother, too?
Ans: Half a bhakari is enough for a three-year-old, as his appetite is small. A mother does lots of work at home, so she will need more food. Hence, half a bhakari would not be enough for his mother.
(b) One man eats five chapatis every day. But one day he has a high fever. Will be eat five chapatis that day? Why?
Ans: A person suffering from a high fever should have a light diet that can be digested easily. Hence, he will not be able to eat five chapatis that day.
(c) Diet differs from person to person. What are the reasons for that?
Ans: A person’s diet depends on his age and health. The diet also changes according to the season. Other reasons why the diet differs from person to person are mainly due to their health, age, work, etc. Some people also eat more because they work hard.
(d) Why does mother have to soak Grandma’s bhakari in milk? Why does mother tell Tai not to leave any food on her plate?
Ans: Grandma’s chewing ability is reduced due to her old age. She may not have proper teeth. She may be having trouble digesting hard food like bhakari. Therefore, mother has to soak grandma’s bhakari in milk in order to soften it.
