Lesson 12 – Our Need for Food

A. What’s the solution?

A potted plant is not growing well. It needs help to grow better.

Ans: Growing any plant requires proper care, like watering and sunlight. We should water the plant and allow proper sunlight every day. In this way, a potted plant will grow better and faster.

B. Think and tell.

(1) What major difference between plants and animals did you come to know from this lesson? What difference did you know already?
Ans: From this lesson, I got to know that plants make their own food, whereas animals need to search for their food. I already knew that plants cannot move from one place to another, whereas animals can move or go from one place to another.

 

(2) From the following list of animals, pick out those that cat flesh and those that do not Lion, elephant, donkey, wolf, deer, shark
Ans:

Lion, Wolf, Sharks

 

Animals not eating flesh:
Elephant, donkey, deer

 

(3) A tiger eats flesh and so does a vulture. But there is a difference in their feeding habits. What is that difference?
Ans: A tiger hunts other animals, kills them and eats its flesh. But a vulture eats the flesh of dead animals.

Ans: If we do not get enough food, we will feel tired. We will feel hungry, and our bodies will be fatigued.

 

(2) Why do wild animals come to areas where people live? 

Ans: Wild animals depend on other animals for food in the jungle, but when they are starving for food, they are forced to enter where people live.

 

(3) Why do foxes not hunt a cow even when they enter human settlements

Ans: Foxes are small animals. They do not hunt cows even when they enter human settlements because they are not as strong as tigers and are unable to kill them.
