(1) How is a society formed?

Ans: 

(i) Man requires security and stability.

(ii) Man started living with others when he realized that he can have security by living together with others. 

(iii) Thereby society came into existence for the attainment of certain common objectives. 

 

(2) Why is it necessary to set up a permanent system in society ?

Ans: 

(i) It is necessary to set up a permanent system in the society to fulfill the basic needs of the people. 

(ii) Orderly conduct of the social affairs cannot take place without making provision for regulation. 

(iii) The very existence of the society depends on setting up permanent systems. 

(iv) Some permanent systems are also necessary for a stable social life.

 

(3) What makes life in society more stable and organized?

Ans: The factors that make the social life more stable and organized are as follows:

(i) Fulfillment of the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. 

(ii) Arrangements for security. 

(iii) Inter-dependence among the different sections of society. 

(iv) Opportunities to develop inherent skills and capability to the individuals. 

(v) Regulation in the form of customs, traditions, values and laws.

 

(4) If there were no social institutions, what difficulties would we have faced?

Ans: We would have faced the following difficulties, if there was no society:

(i) Man would have remained in the nomadic stage, wandering from place to place in search of food.

(ii) Man would have remained perpetually insecure and unstable.

(iii) Law of the jungle would have prevailed in the absence of rules and regulatory authority.

(iv) Emotional, psychological and physical needs of man would not have been satisfied. 

(v) Development of personality would not have taken place.

4. What would you do in the following situations?

(1) Your friend has forgotten to bring something they need to school.

Ans: If I have the things that he needs, then I will share them with him. If I don’t have them, I will seek the help of my classmates or inform the teacher.

 

(2) You meet a visually challenged person or Divyang (differently abled) person on the way.

Ans: I will ask if he needs help. I will help him cross the road and make sure that he reaches his destination safely.
