(A) Railways and roadways

Q 2. Answer in detail :

(1) ‘Newspapers are used for communication’. Explain the statement. 

Ans: 

(i) Newspapers play an important role in our day-to-day lives. 

(ii) A newspaper is a carrier of news, is very informative, and is very cheap.

(iii) It brings awareness to many antisocial elements of society. 

(iv) It also plays an important role in the fields of education, employment, and advertisement.

Hence, “newspapers are used for communication.”

 

(2) Explain how T.V. is a cheap means of communication.

Ans: 

(i) Television is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting images in black and white or in colour and in 2D and 3D.

(ii) TV is a mass medium used for entertainment, education, news, politics, gossip, and advertising.

(iii) A number of regional, national, and private channels enable people to see programmes according to their requirements.

(iv) Also in the remote areas, there is a lot of development and entertainment taking place due to television.

Therefore, TV is considered a cheap means of communication.

 

(3) What types of communications can be done through mobiles ?

Ans: 

(i) Mobile phones are used so that a person can directly talk to another person or send messages.

(ii) The different types of communication that can be done by mobiles are:

(a) Video calling and videoconferencing are also available.

(b) Payment of bills, selling, buying, and carrying out transactions through mobiles

(c) Many apps are used on mobile phones for the transfer of money, use of online trading, payments through the BHIM app or SBI anywhere, etc.
