Lesson 15 – A Collage

contribution: something that you do in order to help something to be successful.

Things to do

1. Make a collage on any topic of your choice.

Ans: Students should do this on their own.

2. Write a few lines (3-5) about the following:

(a) A match that you have seen on the playground or on TV.
Ans: I really like cricket. I, along with my family, once watched an Indian cricket match on TV. My favorite player, Virat Kohli, was playing. The game got very exciting. When India needed a few more runs to win, a big hit made the crowd cheer loudly. I was so happy that I jumped up and down. After watching that match, I wanted to play cricket even more and hoped to become a cricket player one day.

(b) How your teacher helps you to do better in your work.
Ans: My teacher helps me do better by being kind and patient. She explains things in a simple way so that everyone understands. If anyone has questions, the teacher answers with a smile. She gives us extra practice and celebrates when we improve. If I make a mistake, the teacher says it’s okay and helps us learn from it. The teacher believes in us and gives us confidence. With the teacher’s help, we can do our best and feel proud.

(c) Someone other than your parents and teachers who has helped you.
Ans: Once upon a time, I was lost in a big park. I felt scared and didn’t know where to go. But then a friendly dog named Buddy came running. Buddy wagged his tail and led me back to my family. I felt safe, and I thanked Buddy with a big hug. From that day on, I and Buddy became best friends, always playing together in the park. Buddy was the helper who showed me the way when I was lost.

3. Do the following with the help of your teacher:

(a) Find and read the farewell speech given by Sachin at Wankhede Stadium.

Ans: Students should do this on their own.

 

(b) Find and write the names and achievements of at least 5 people honoured with Bharat Ratna.

Ans: Here are the names of five individuals honored with the Bharat Ratna:

(c) Find and write the names and achievements of at least 3 well-known Indian sports personalities.

Ans: 

1. Sachin Tendulkar:

Sachin Tendulkar is a cricket legend, celebrated as one of the greatest players. He holds the record for scoring 100 international centuries and played a pivotal role in India’s victory in the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

2. Mary Kom:

Mary Kom, known as “Magnificent Mary,” is a prominent boxer. Her achievements include multiple gold medals in the World Boxing Championships. She’s an inspiration for women in sports and has represented India in various Olympics.

3. PV Sindhu:

PV Sindhu, an accomplished badminton player, secured India’s first-ever silver medal at the 2016 Olympics. Her talent and dedication have led to consistent success in international tournaments, making her a source of national pride.
