Ans: In today’s society, there are many undesirable customs and traditions that hinder the development of the society. These include dowry, child marriage, gender inequality, caste inequality, etc.

Some of the measures to eradicate them include:

a) Strict laws and orders from the government will ensure that people do not follow the undesirable customs.

b) Awareness should be created among the people about the disadvantages of these customs.

c) Penalties and punishments should be awarded to those who perpetuate inequality and other undesirable evils in society.

 

3. Make a detailed note about the festivals celebrated in your area.

Ans: There are many festivals celebrated in Maharashtra. Some of them are: 

Diwali:

Diwali is also known as the “festival of lights” in India. It is a Hindu festival that is celebrated in the Karthika month. On this day, people worship Goddess Lakshmi and burn fireworks, which is a symbol of the victory of the good.

 

Ramzan Eid:

Ramzan Eid is an Islamic festival that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. They observe the holy fast of Roza every day for a month and end the fasting on the day of Ramadan Eid. We wish each other “Eid Mubarak.” A huge feast of delicacies is prepared and shared with everyone. 

 

Holi:

Holi is known as the festival of colors. It is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in the spring season. On this day, people spray colors on each other and eat delicacies.

 

Gudi Padwa:

Gudi Padwa is a festival celebrated in the spring. It is considered the new year’s day for the people of Maharashtra. It is also called the Marathi New Year in this state.

 

Christmas:

Christmas is a Christian festival and marks the birthday of Jesus Christ. We celebrated it on the 25th of December every year. We make cakes and chocolates, which we distribute among our family, friends, and neighbors. We decorate a Christmas tree and place it in our area. We exchange gifts between family and friends.
