The Elephant

The elephant is mostly found in Africa and Asia. It is the largest land animal in the world. It breathes through its trunk. It also uses its trunk to put food in its mouth. The elephant has two ivory tusks coming out of its mouth. The elephant is mostly hunted for its tusks.

 

Elephants live in herds. They are very protective of their young ones. Elephants can be tamed and made to do hard work like moving and lifting timber. They eat leaves, grass, and fruits. An elephant is said to have a very good memory.

 

Some people kill elephants to make money by selling their tusks. So, in order to protect and preserve them, many nations have banned the killing of elephants.
