C45f3LZsk7Da4bJ2tYDpaF The Camel

The camel is a tall animal found mostly in the deserts. It has a hump where it stores its supply of food. A hump is a large lump of fat that provides the camel with energy if food is hard to find. Some camels have two humps. The camel’s body can store fluid for use when needed. Thus, a camel can remain for six to nine days without drinking water.

The camel has thick lips, with which it can eat even the thorny leaves of cactus plants. It has long eyelashes to protect its eyes in a sandstorm. Its nostrils can close in a sandstorm. The camel has padded feet so that it can walk fast on sand. The camel can travel long distances across hot, dry deserts. It carries people and loads through the deserts. Hence, it is rightly called the ‘ship of the desert’.
