My State

MAHARASHTRA My State

The state I live in is Maharashtra. It is the third-largest state in India. It was formed on May 1, 1960. The 1st of May is celebrated as Maharashtra Day.

 

Maharashtra is situated along the western coast of India, by the Arabian Sea. Its neighbouring states are Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Goa. There are altogether thirty-five districts in this state. To the extreme west is the Konkan coast. Adjoining this are the Sahyadri ranges. East of these ranges is a plateau region. Each region has its own special variety of minerals and crops.

 

Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra. Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, Nashik, Akola, Wardha, and Nagpur are some of the important cities. Many rivers, such as the Tapi, Godavari, Vainganga, and Krishna, flow through it. People of many castes and religions live here.

 

Maharashtra is a very progressive state. Marathi is the state language. The people are very friendly. I am proud of my state, Maharashtra.
