Diwali is a very important Indian festival. It is celebrated with a lot of noise and light. In our house, we always celebrate Diwali with great excitement.

This year’s Diwali was indeed very enjoyable. My little brother, Rohan, was allowed to hold sparklers for the first time. The two of us enjoyed lighting them a great deal. Rohan and I were content with sparklers. We did not go near the more dangerous firecrackers. 

We decorated our house with paper bunting. Mummy made some mouth-watering sweets. Daddy brought us some lovely clothes. Every evening we lit the oil lamps on our verandah. A bright paper lantern was hung from the doorway. We also drew colourful designs (rangolis) in front of our door.

Many friends and relatives visited us. We also visited their houses. Diwali was, indeed, fun this year.
