One rainy day, my father gave me some money to deposit in a bank near our home. The bank was quite crowded, so I had to wait in a queue for my turn.

All of a sudden, two tall and strongly built men rushed into the bank. One of them quickly locked the main door from inside and stood near it. The other took out a revolver, raised it in the air and warned everyone not to move. It was clear that they had come to rob the bank. Fear spread through the hall and everyone stood still.

The armed robber then walked towards the cashier. As he came close to me, I quickly lifted my umbrella and struck his hand. The revolver fell to the floor. Before he could pick it up, a man standing nearby grabbed it. Furious, the robber tried to snatch it back, but several people rushed forward to help. Together they overpowered him and held him down. Meanwhile, the second robber was also caught by some customers. Both men were locked inside the bank’s restroom until the police arrived and arrested them. The inspector noted down my name and address.

I returned home without depositing the money my father had given me. My family members and neighbours appreciated my courage and quick thinking. Later that afternoon, a police officer visited our house, recorded my statement and praised me for my bravery. He even said that he would recommend my name for an award. I felt extremely happy and proud.

It was a thrilling as well as frightening experience. Even today, it remains the most interesting incident of my life and I can never forget that memorable day.
