Sports Day in School
Our School Annual Sports Day is one of the most exciting events of the year. It marks the final day of all the sports activities and is usually held just before the Diwali holidays. This year, it took place on 22nd October.
The day began with a grand march-past and the Chief Guest, our city’s Mayor, took the salute. This was followed by the National Anthem, during which everyone stood respectfully. After that, the finals of various races and sports events were conducted. Every participant and team gave their best effort to secure first place, making each event thrilling to watch. I had qualified for the final of the Senior Boys’ 200-metre race and managed to finish second. I was happy to win a prize and felt proud of my performance.
The senior kho-kho and kabaddi finals were also held that day. Both matches were highly enjoyable because the teams played exceptionally well. Until the very end, it was difficult to predict the winners.
After every race and event, certificates, medals and trophies were presented to the winners by invited guests. During the first half of the day, the Mayor’s wife distributed the prizes, while in the second half, the Senior Police Inspector of our town did the honours. The applause and cheers from students and parents made the atmosphere even more lively.
The final event of the day was the slow-cycling race for the Senior Boys. It was both entertaining and exciting. It was amusing to watch the participants trying their best to come last instead of first. By the end of the day, everyone was tired but delighted after enjoying such a memorable School Annual Sports Day.
