The slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” given by Lal Bahadur Shastri reminded us of the importance of both farmers and soldiers. But in truth, we do not need a slogan to realize how important our jawans are to the country and how capable they are.
The Indian Armed Forces, with their three wings—the Army, Navy and Air Force are among the finest in the world. A jawan (soldier) is part of this mighty force. By choosing the life of a protector, he shows great physical, mental and moral strength. He leaves behind a comfortable life and accepts hardship and sacrifice so that the nation may live in peace and dignity.
A soldier goes through rigorous training and passes many tough tests. He is strong, disciplined, brave and intelligent. His smart uniform and confident march fill our hearts with pride.
The soldier’s greatest duty is to defend the nation from its enemies. It is the most dangerous but also the noblest task. He performs it with courage, devotion, vigilance and determination. His heart is full of patriotism and he is ever ready to lay down his life for the country with a smile.
The bravery of Indian soldiers has been seen in many wars, such as the Indo-Pak conflicts and the Kargil war. Many jawans sacrificed their lives, leaving behind grieving families but bringing glory to the nation. They are remembered with respect and gratitude by all Indians.
Even in peacetime, the jawan continues to serve the nation. He helps people during natural disasters like floods, earthquakes and landslides. His presence brings comfort and security to those in distress.
We must be thankful to the jawan for his service. It is our duty to support his welfare in every possible way through contributions to welfare funds, blood donation drives and by showing respect and care for soldiers and their families.
The jawan is the pride of our nation and a true symbol of courage, sacrifice and service.
