My Neighbours

I live in a large apartment building with many flats, so I have quite a few neighbours. Most of them are friendly and pleasant people and I share a good relationship with them. We rarely have any disagreements.

The neighbour living next door on my left is a senior government officer. He is quite reserved and thinks highly of himself. He does not interact much with others in the building. His wife, however, is cheerful, warm and always ready with a smile. She is very different from her husband in nature.

The neighbour on my right is a stock market broker. He is hardworking and ambitious. He often shares useful investment advice and practical financial tips with people. Many residents in our society have benefited from his suggestions.

Directly opposite our flat lives a well-educated couple. The husband teaches at a nearby college, while his wife works as a teacher in a municipal primary school.

Every year, the residents plan a trip to an interesting place together. Such outings help us know one another better and strengthen our bond. We also celebrate festivals like Diwali, Holi, Navratri, Eid and Christmas together. Sports events and literary competitions are organised for both children and adults. These activities bring everyone closer and help maintain a friendly atmosphere in the building.

“Love thy neighbour as thyself,” said Rahul, our school principal, during a speech. At times, this may not be easy to follow. Still, we should always try to be kind and considerate towards our neighbours.
