High School Level (For Class 8 to 10)
Today, when I rode to school, ringing the bell of my shiny bicycle and feeling the breeze on my face, I almost forgot my very first attempt at riding one. But when Daddy asked me to teach my younger brother Joy to ride a bicycle, the memory came rushing back. I still feel a little embarrassed recalling it, but I will share the story with you.
To be honest, my first attempt at riding a bicycle was a total disaster. Daddy, of course, was helping me. The bicycle was medium-sized and newly bought. I could easily get on it, but balancing it was another story. At first, Daddy pushed me around and I felt thrilled. He would take his hand off the seat for a few seconds so I could try riding on my own. But I would always wobble and have to put my feet down to stop.
Soon, I became overconfident and wanted to try riding entirely on my own. I managed to balance the bicycle and even started going around the garden without Daddy’s help. Then, in a burst of excitement, I rode onto the road. Daddy shouted at me to stop, but the thrill was too much. Unfortunately, I hadn’t learned to pedal and brake at the same time. I reached the top of a slope and the bicycle started sliding down. I couldn’t stop it and ended up crashing into a bush. I was bruised and shaken. Daddy, running after me, lifted me up gently. That day, I learned the importance of patience and following instructions.
Today, I can ride a bicycle with confidence and I am ready to teach Joy. This time, he will learn safely and enjoyably, without the disasters I faced!
