Life In A Large City: Advantages Or Disadvantages

I have spent my whole life in a large city, so I can confidently say that city life is always busy and full of activity. There is hardly ever a quiet day. Sometimes there are power cuts, sometimes public transport workers go on strike and at other times heavy rains create problems for trains and roads. Traffic jams are also a common sight. Life in a city keeps people alert because there is always some challenge to deal with.

Space for living becomes less every year. Homes are getting smaller while property prices continue to rise. Wide roads often lead to narrow lanes, making it difficult for vehicles to move freely. In many crowded areas, even autorickshaws find it hard to pass through the streets.

Inspite of these problems, people continue to prefer city life. They gradually become used to the noise and increasing pollution and learn to manage crowded buses and trains. Cities offer better career opportunities and help people build useful professional contacts. They also provide more chances for business growth and development.

One reason for this is that cities offer better facilities for education and employment than most small towns and villages. Students living in big cities often have a demanding routine. Along with school, many attend coaching classes, computer courses or sports and activity classes. They usually get little time and space for outdoor games. At the same time, they enjoy many forms of entertainment such as television, cinemas, shopping malls and cultural events.

Life moves very fast in a city. People often have limited time for social gatherings and usually meet friends and relatives during festivals, weddings and other special occasions.
