As You Sow, So Shall You Reap

If you plant a mango seed, you expect a mango tree to grow from it. You do not expect some other fruit to appear. In the same way, if a plant kept near your window dries up, it is usually because it has not been watered properly. This is why people say, “As you sow, so shall you reap.” It means that the way we act and treat others in life often decides what we receive in return.

 

If you speak rudely to your friends, they may slowly stop spending time with you. After some time, you may find yourself without any close friends. Similarly, a person working in a company can achieve success only through dedication and sincere effort. A student appearing for the SSC examination cannot expect good marks unless he or she has spent many hours studying during the months before the exam.

 

A person who spends life deceiving others and breaking the law may escape for some time, but one day the truth is likely to come out. On the other hand, a person who helps others and works for their welfare earns respect and is remembered for many years.

 

Therefore, it is our own actions that shape the future we create. If we wish to enjoy peace, happiness and prosperity, we must make the right efforts and work towards them. Otherwise, we cannot expect good results to come our way.
