A Visit to a Zoo

I first visited a zoo when I was very young. Even today, I remember that visit clearly. I had gone there with my parents and sister and we all had a wonderful time together.

Last Sunday, I visited the zoo in our city again with two of my friends. After buying our tickets, we entered the zoo with great excitement.

We first went to the bird section. There were colourful parrots, sparrows, eagles, owls, pigeons and peacocks. Their chirping and calls filled the air. After that, we visited the enclosures of wild animals such as lions, tigers and leopards. A few tigers were sleeping peacefully in their enclosure. Nearby, a majestic lion paced around, letting out loud roars from time to time. We then moved towards the rocky shelters built for bears. The bears wandered lazily from one area to another. In the deer park, several deer and antelopes ran about freely inside their enclosure. We also spotted a few zebras and giraffes standing quietly nearby.

Next, we visited the reptile house, where snakes, pythons and other reptiles were kept. In one corner, we noticed a black cobra. It raised its hood and hissed whenever people came too close. Later, we went to a large pond where crocodiles were kept. A mother crocodile rested motionless while a few baby crocodiles climbed over her back. At a distance, some children were enjoying an elephant ride and laughing with excitement.

Before leaving, we stopped by a beautiful lake where graceful white swans were swimming. It was a delightful sight. We made sure not to feed or disturb any animals. We also stopped a few children from teasing the monkeys. This visit to the zoo was truly memorable and I will always cherish it.
