A Visit to a Circus

A few days ago, I came to know that the Grand Star Circus had arrived in our town. I was very excited to hear the news. A huge tent had been set up on the large Parade Ground outside the town and two shows were being held every day. Last Sunday, I went with my friend Amit to watch the circus.

We bought tickets for the evening show. After entering the tent, we found comfortable seats in the gallery. The show started exactly at six o’clock. The programme began with a colourful parade of animals and circus performers dressed in bright costumes. After that, a group of girls displayed their skill by riding one-wheeled cycles. Two of them even rode their cycles on a tightrope, balancing themselves with great confidence.

Next came a strong man who balanced a long pole on his forehead. A young girl climbed up the pole and performed several amazing acrobatic tricks. Then the jugglers entertained the audience by tossing balls, bottles, plates and even sharp knives into the air and catching them perfectly. The animal performances were equally enjoyable. A bear rode a motorbike around the ring, while a dog jumped through a flaming hoop. The monkeys were the most amusing of all. They entered the arena in a tiny cart pulled by a horse. Their funny actions made everyone laugh loudly.

Later, the trapeze artistes performed daring stunts high above the ground. Watching them swing from one bar to another was truly exciting. Finally, two motorcyclists raced at great speed inside a giant steel globe. It was a breathtaking act. Throughout the show, the clowns kept the audience entertained with their humorous tricks and playful behaviour.

After three wonderful hours filled with excitement and fun, we returned home with many happy memories of the circus.
