(A) Land Use for public facility are extremely important in urban areas.

Ans: 

(i) The government provides various services to fulfil the needs of citizens. The land used for fulfilling these needs is known as the public utility/facility area.

(ii) The lands used for post offices, police stations, public grounds, public schools, public hospitals, etc. are included in public facility land use.

(iii) Land use for public facilities increases social welfare. Therefore, land use for public facilities is extremely important in urban areas.

 

(B) The record of the ownership of non-agricultural land is the same as that of the agricultural land.

Ans: 

(i) The record of agricultural land is maintained in the form of a 7/12 extract. Similarly, the record of ownership of non-agricultural land is maintained in the form of a property card.

(ii) In India, farming is a very important occupation as it satisfies the need for food grain and provides raw materials to industries.

(iii) The maximum amount of land in rural areas is used for carrying out agricultural activities.

(iv) Therefore, agriculture is important for rural land use.

 

(B) State the factors affecting land use.

Ans: 

(i) The factors affecting rural land use include climatic conditions, fertility of the soil, altitude and slope of the land, irrigational facilities, natural resources, government policies, etc.

(ii) For example, land with a gentle slope is not used for residential purposes but is used for step farming.

(iii) The factors affecting urban land use include the location of land, natural resources, housing development policies of the government, transportation routes, industrialization, trade and commerce, entertainment facilities, government policies, etc.

(iv) For example, the land near the railway station, market, etc. is mostly used for commercial purposes.

 

(C) Clarify the differences between rural and urban land uses.

Ans: The differences between rural and urban land use are as follows:

Ans: The differences between the 7/12 extract and the property card are as follows: 

7/12 Extract Property card
(i) A 7/12 extract is issued by the public revenue department of the government.
(i) A property card is issued by the city survey office of the government.
(ii) 7/12 is the land record of ownership and history of ownership of the land in rural areas.
