Exercise

Solve the following problems.

(1) In a certain year, the Ganesh festival started on the 9th of September and ended on the 18th of September. For how many days was the festival celebrated?

Ans: 

To find how many days the festival was celebrated, we’ll count from 9th September to 18th September, including both days.

So, the festival was celebrated for 10 days.

 

(2) Seema reached her hometown for Deepawali on the 12th of November and stayed there till the 1st of December. How many days did she spend there?

Ans: 

Seema stayed 30 – 11 = 19 days in November in her hometown 

She stayed 1 day in December in her hometown 

So, she spent 19 + 1 = 20 days in her hometown.

 

(3) A school trip was from the 5th of December to the 10th of December. How many days was it?

Ans: 

To find the duration of the trip, we’ll count from 5th December to 10th September, including both days.

So, the school trip was for 6 days.

 

(4) Shyamrao had milk delivered to his home from the 5th of November to the 5th of December. How many days was milk delivered?

Ans: 

In November, milk was delivered for 30 – 4 = 26 days

In December, milk was delivered for 5 days

So, milk was delivered for 26 + 5 = 31 days.
