The peacock is a beautiful and colourful bird. It is blue in colour and has a long neck and long blue and green feathers. The feathers have dark blue marks on them that look like eyes. The peacock can spread these feathers like a fan. The female bird, called the peahen, is not as pretty as the peacock. The peacock is our national bird.

Besides India, the peacock is found in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Java. This great bird eats grains, insects, and, yes, even snakes. Peacocks move in flocks and are shy by nature. It is said that when it rains, the peacock is happy and dances. It lets out a loud and long cry. Peacock feathers are smooth and shiny, and I like to keep them in my notebooks.
