The horse is a very strong animal. It eats soft hay. It also loves sugar and jaggery. A horse is kept in a stable. Its coat and mane have to be brushed regularly.

There was a time when horses were wild. They lived in large groups. They roamed from place to place in search of grass. Now, however, horses are tame. They are used for riding and for drawing carts and carriages. Horses are also used in races. This is because they can run at great speed.

The horse is a clever animal. It understands instructions easily. A horse must be treated kindly. Then it is very loyal and obedient. Like the dog, a horse, too, is a good, faithful friend to man.
